Antique Timuri or Baluch rug from the borders of Western Afghanistan and Eastern Persia probably Timuri tribe.
Circa 1880.
A superb and scarce rug with a repeat diamond design on a rich aubergine ground the diamonds are in varying shades of madder and indigo. The use of white wool in the border stand out against the rich palette of the rug. The rug is in good condition with some wear and medium / low pile there is also some dye corrosion. The rug also retains the original long kilims at both ends these have a band of weft work decoration. The rug is suitable for light domestic use. A scarce and collectible small rug.
