A very small size Turkish Hereke silk rug with a small medallion design.
About 50 years old.
The rug has a small central medallion in ivory and light blue, on a mustard coloured ground, The light blue border is of a floral design. Note the use of silver metal thread through out the rug, especially in the border. The rug is signed in a panel at the lower end.
The rug is in excellent condition with very slight wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed recently.
Silk pile on a silk foundation.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use, or would make a good wall hanging.
Please note: Silk rugs are difficult to photograph due to the light reflecting off the very shiny surface, light areas are not fading, they are just light reflections. The close up images show the truest colours.
