Antique tribal Afshar rug with repeat herati design. 

Circa 1890. 

An good tribal Afshar rug with a repeat herati (leaf) design on a dark indigo blue ground. The herati design is drawn in bands across the rug which is quite an unusual feature. Note the long kilim ends with a banded design typical of Afshar work. The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good pile the rug has a tight weave and the fine pile is cut short. The rug has been hand washed and ready for use. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
