The popular design style has spread across the Balkan region and into western Turkey. These are outstanding furnishing kilims with a very unique style in a wide range of designs and colours. This example is of a scarce two medallion design with a soft burnt orange ground note the six ladies in traditional costume woven into the design. The kilim is framed with two borders; the inner of traditional design on a dark ground. The outer border is in ivory with a soft blue design. The weave is typically fine and tight.
