Antique Caucasian Gendje prayer rug with floral lattice on an ivory ground. 

Circa 1890. 

This is a good example of a well known group of prayer rugs attributed to Gendje in the central southern Caucasus. These rugs have a floral lotus palmette design contained within a lattice on an ivory ground; note the square shaped mihrab. The border is of traditional form with the bold colour palette associated with this group of rugs. An interesting example with bold colourful design. The rug has slight even wear good pile. Hand washed and ready for use or display.
