Antique Caucasian Shirvan Baku long rug with Surahani garden design. 

Dated 1310 (1892). 

A good example of a Shirvan rug with the sought after garden design often associated with the village of Surahani which is Northeast of Baku in the Eastern Caucasus. This example is of a large size and attractive colour palette the borders are well drawn and the chevron design is typical of the Baku region. The rug is a scarce example of a clearly dated Caucasian rug dated 1310 which converts to 1893 / 1893. The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile there are a few scatted old re-weaves which are well blended. The rug has a very slightly faded country house look. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
