Antique Caucasian Chajli long rug with triple medallion design. 

Circa 1880. 

A good example of a Chajli rug with the traditional three medallion design. This rug has some very unusual design variations; the medallions are normally octagonal but we can see that the lower ivory medallion is a square. The inner guard border starts at the lower end of the rug but then suddenly stops in line with the top of the square medallion. Also at the very top end of the rug is a panel in blue; the weaver obviously had a lot of fun weaving this rug. The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. The rug is suitable for light domestic use. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
