Antique East Caucasian Shirvan rug from the Baku region. 

Circa 1900. 

A good small Shirvan rug with a three medallion design as found in the Baku region. The abrashed soft red ground is pleasing note the small birds and animals; there is even a man standing on the back of a camel. The ivory ground border is of a traditional Caucasian design. A very sweet small rug. The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. The lower end retains the original braided end finishes these are showing some age related losses. The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for light domestic floor use.
