Antique Tekke Turkmen rug of fine weave and small square size. 

Circa 1900. 

These rugs are considered to be dowry’ weavings used by the Turkmen bride on her wedding day. This example has 4 rows of 10 Tekke guls the main border is of the star in octagon with sunburst design. Note the use of cochineal dye throughout the rug. The rug has very fine soft wool with excellent colour. The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and almost full pile. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
