Antique Kizil Ayak Turkmen prayer rug of scarce design. 

Circa 1900/20. 

An interesting prayer rug of a well known and scarce group woven by the Kizil Ayak Turkmen of Northern Afghanistan. The small triangle designs are arranged on a camel ground to create a diamond lattice design either side of a central totemic pole. The borders are of a typical Kizil Ayak design. The rug is in fair condition with even wear and medium pile both ends of the rug have been re-woven at some time in the rugs history. (This is reflected in the price). The rug would make an good display as a wall hanging.
