Antique Caucasian Kuba region rug with cruciform medallion design. 

Circa 1900/20. 

A colourful rug that is probably from the Kuba region of the Eastern Caucasus. The three and a half cruciform medallion are on a dark indigo blue field which is filled with an array of Caucasian design elements. The border is of a simple yet interesting design. The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile there are some early aniline dyes used that have faded giving the rug a soft warm feel. The rug has been hand washed and ready for use or display.
