A very good old South Caucasian Shirvan rug, with a design inspired by 19th century rugs from the Kuba region.

A superb example of Shirvan village weaving, rich natural colours and hand-spun wool. This rug was purchased in Azerbaijan about 15 years ago from weavers who had a small but very high quality weaving workshop.

This example is very well drawn with an ivory field with a dragon or bird design surrounded by floral rosettes, the border is a classic Shirvan design.

The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.

A scarce example of modern Shirvan weaving of the highest quality.
