Old Afghan Maimana region kilim woven by settled Uzbeks.

This exceptional kilim is from Faryab province in western Turkestan; here the settled Uzbek population weave these large colourful kilims that are sold through the city of Maimana hence their name. This example is of exceptionally large size and was probably woven as a special commission the design and colours are truly outstanding. Excellent condition very slight wear. This is a very strong firm and durable kilim it would be suitable for everyday use if fitted on a good underlay.
