Antique Western Anatolian Bergama region village prayer rug.
A good prayer rug of small size, with bold design and a double birds head at each end. The rug has a floral carnation border on an ivory ground.
The rug has very slight even wear and good pile, the rug retains the original kilim end finish at both ends, the top kilim has piled decoration which is typical for this region. There is a very small area of damage to the lower kilim. the rug contains a faded mauve dye which is probably a very early synthetic dye, this helps us in dating the rug to about 1900 latest.
The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display
