Antique Turkish Star Ushak Design Rug
Product tabs
This rug is an outstanding reproduction of the famous and sought after 17th century Star Ushak design rug that is found displayed in the world’s great museums and private collections. It is thought that this reproduction was woven in Turkey or possibly Eastern Europe during the early part of the 20th century. It has been suggested that it could be from the workshop of the master weaver Teodor Tuduc, who had workshops in Brasov, Romania and produced copies of some of the greatest 16th and 17th century rugs.
The rug has superb natural dyes throughout, with wonderful soft reds and a range of indigo blues. The rug is in excellent condition with only very slight wear in places and generally very good pile. There are one or two spots of old repairs.
The rug has been hand washed and is suitable for normal domestic use or display.
A rare opportunity to own an antique copy of a truly beautiful Star Ushak rug.
