Antique Tekke Turkmen rug with superb colour. 

Circa 1900. 

This excellent example has 4 rows of 12 Tekke guls on a warm madder red field the borders are of the sun burst and octagon design with small stars. Note the original large elem panels at each end. The rug is of a larger size than normal making it a very useful furnishing size. Note the use of Cochineal dye throughout the rug especially as the ground colour to the main border. The rug is in excellent condition with very slight even wear and good pile the rug has very soft wool and a fine weave. The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
