Antique Central Anatolian Konya region village prayer rug. 

Circa 1850. 

A superb example of a Konya prayer rug the soft red central mihrab is floating on a green ground the rug is framed by a main border in a soft butterscotch colour with hooked medallions. The rug has very soft wool and a floppy handle there are some old re-weaves at the sides and ends some re-piled areas to the field all well blended and difficult to see. Hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug would make a superb wall hanging or would be suitable for very light domestic use.
