Antique Eastern Anatolian Kurdish Yuruk Rug
An Antique Eastern Anatolian Kurdish Yuruk rug, with tripple medallion design.
An excellent example of a Yuruk rug, with an unusual design of three diamond medallions and traditional colour palette. The apricot / orange used in the border is traditional for this region of Eastern Anatolia, the medallions are surrounded with a zig zag field design. The side bindings are very finely done in a style unique to the Yuruk. Of particular note on the reverse of the rug are long wool threads, these are talisman attached by the weaver as a protective device to ward off evil, (see image).
Superb condition with slight wear and even pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. There is some corrosion to the olive brown.
Hand washed and ready for use or display.
