Antique Eastern Anatolian Kurdish Yuruk Prayer Rug, Second Half of the 19th Century
Product tabs
An excellent example of a Kurdish Yuruk prayer rug, with the classic bold design and intense dye colours. The wool is soft and glossy. The butterscotch coloured border frames the rug well and contrasts with the cochineal red light indigo blue field.
Superb condition with even wear and good pile. The rug has a few scattered very small old repairs and the selvedges have been re-bound in the traditional Yuruk manner. The top end retains part of the original decorated kilim end finish.
A good collectors rug that will make an excellent display item. Hand washed and ready for use or display.
