Antique Caucasian Kazak rug with a single column of boxed Memlinc guls. 

Circa 1890. 

A superb Kazak rug with a single vertical column of five Memlinc guls; this is a rug of outstanding colour and design. The five guls stand out against the madder red inner field which is framed by an inner and outer guard of stars on a light blue ground. The main border is the classic white ground S design. The rug has wonderful soft wool and fully saturated dyes. The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear with good long pile with a soft floppy handle. Hand washed and ready for use or display. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
