Antique Caucasian Karabagh cloud band Kazak rug, circa 1900. These rugs were woven by Armenian weavers in the Duchy of Khachen in the town of Khondzoresk, they are known as cloud band Kazaks due to the cloud band design within the medallions.
The rug is well drawn with two cloud band medallions in dark indigo blue and green on a madder red ground. The field is filled with flowers and birds along with a single human figure. The ivory ground border is typical for this region.
The rug is in excellent condition with even wear and medium pile. The rug has been hand washed and is suitable for normal domestic use or display.
