Antique Caucasian Gendje Kazak Rug with Star and Lattice Design, Circa 1880
This rug is an excellent example of Kazak weaving from the town of Gendje in the South Eastern Caucasus. The field design is stars within a diamond lattice on a powder blue field. The border is a well drawn example of the crab border which is also found on many Kazak rugs.
The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile. The rug has been hand washed and is suitable for normal domestic use or display.
