Size: 6ft 3in x 3ft 6in (190 x 106cm). Antique Salar Khani Baluch rug with large turreted gul design. Circa 1890. A good Salar Khani Baluch rug from the border lands of Western Afghanistan with a design of a single vertical row of five large turreted guls similar in design to those found in Saryk Turkmen weaving. The main guls are separated by the Salar Khani motif at the sides. The rug is framed by multiple borders. The rug has a pleasing soft colour palette note the use of a clear yellow and ivory for the highlights. The rug is in excellent condition with slight even wear and good pile there is some corrosion to the black dyed wool the ends show some signs of wear the rug has very soft wool and a floppy handle. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use. Stock Number: D-0959.
