Antique Arab Baluch rug of scarce design from the Ferdows region. 

Circa 1900. 

The rug has a design of five medallions on a dark indigo blue ground each medallion contains a Turkmen related gul design on a field of floral rosette flower heads. The main border is the outstanding feature of the rug the ivory ground stands out against the darker colours used in the rug. The blacks in the border are heavily corroded giving a sculpted effect. The rug is in good condition with slight even wear and almost full pile. The rug is suitable for normal domestic use.
