Antique Afshar rug of the 'Gul Farang' design.

The 'gul farang' design was inspired by French design of the late 19th century; as seen on Aubusson and Savonnerie. Gul Farang translates as foreign flower. This fine example has the rose bouquets emerging in a 3 dimensional manner from the madder red field.

Excellent condition with slight even wear, good pile. There are a few finger tip size spots of heavier wear, the ends are slightly ragged but could easily be tidied up.

The rug has been hand washed and is ready for use or display.
