Antique Afghan prayer rug of traditional village mosque design by the Kizil Ayak Turkmen.

The rug is of typical mosque design showing a mosque at the top and the field depicting the inside of a mosque. This group of prayer rugs depict a mosque with 13 minarets, 11 at the top and one at each side of the lower end.
The rug is in excellent condition, with very slight even wear and good pile. The rug retains the original kilim at both ends, the lower end kilim has been folded under and stitched to the back. There are old brass hanging rings attached to the back at the top end, the rug has probably been wall hung which accounts for its excellent condition.
The rug is suitable for light domestic use and is suitable for wall hanging.
